Punk Is Not Dead by Photoville

Bridging generations of rebellion and creativity, this exhibition unites new and old faces of the NYC punk scene through the lens of five photographers across the last five decades.

Renowned punk photographers Bob Gruen, Roberta Bayley, and GODLIS bring us the 1970’s birth of punk and the peak of iconic east village venue CBGB. Alongside them, Destiny Mata and Ebru Yildiz document the modern age of NYC punk, from the DIY music venue Death by Audio to the vibrant alternative punks of color scene thriving across all five boroughs.

2024 You Are Not Alone Murals Project

A statement. An art form. A movement. You Are Not Alone Murals is a community-based art project that offers a message of hope, and aims to spark dialogue around mental health. For the third year in a row, the project, which features murals from local artists, has returned to the Seaport in honor of May being Mental Health Awareness Month.

Views From the Seaport by ArtBridge

ArtBridge, in partnership with the Seaport, has recently announced Views from the Seaport, a three-part public art exhibition by artists Blanka Amezkua, Ebony Bolt, and Steve Ellis. The 600-linear-foot-long exhibition will be installed on construction sheds surrounding 250 Water Street. Each artist was provided with one side of the site at 250 Water Street in Manhattan.

The Daily Bread by Photoville

As globalization alters our relationship to food, photographer Gregg Segal has embarked on a global project asking kids from around the world to take his “Daily Bread” challenge. Each child keeps a detailed journal of everything they eat in a week, and then Segal stages an elaborate portrait of them surrounded by the foods they consumed. The colorful and hyper-detailed results tell a unique story of multiculturalism and how we nourish ourselves at the dawn of the 21st century.

Sea Idylls by Carole A. Feuerman

After a year on Park Avenue, 5 of Carole Feuerman’s iconic swimmers move to the Seaport until the end of 2024. This historic neighborhood, considered the cradle of America, provides the ideal backdrop for the monumental works of the superrealist sculptor. Overlooking the East River and with the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop, this open-air exhibition offers – to tourists and New Yorkers alike – a walk imbued with aquatic poetry.

Photoville Festival

Photoville Festival has extended their Opening Weekend Community Celebration to the Seaport to highlight the 7 incredible festival exhibitions, on view from June 1 – 16 at 23 Fulton Street. This year, Photoville is bringing an array of activities to the Seaport for all ages and all levels of photography. Join us in welcoming the Flickr family as they lead a photowalk across the Brooklyn Bridge, from the Seaport exhibits to the Photo Village in Brooklyn Bridge Park!

Hip Hop at 50 by Janette Beckman

The early ’80s in New York City was the golden age of hip-hop, and photographer Janette Beckman was there to capture its rising stars. To mark the 50th anniversary of hip-hop’s birth, an exhibition of Beckman’s iconic images will be on display at the Seaport. Presented as part of the Photoville Festival.

Seating Arrangements by Luke Shannon

Seating Arrangements is a solo project by generative artist, Luke Shannon. Directing a focus towards the interplay of algorithms and art, it debuts a series of unique wooden chairs whose form and function is generated through a computer. The project includes a digital blueprint of the chairs as an NFT, the physical chairs, a wood block print created during the production of the chairs, and an instruction manual. Presented by Tonic at 3fivetwo Gallery.

Living Canvas by Bright Moments

Neo Noir by Dave Krugman

Explore the untold stories hidden in the urban landscape through the lens of photographer Dave Krugman. Representing work that spans over a decade in cities around the world, the crypto art series takes its visual cues from science fiction classics like Blade Runner and The Matrix.

Art at The Edge by Waterfront Alliance

For the fourth year, Waterfront Alliance presents a free outdoor exhibit of New York and New Jersey artists whose work is thematically tied to climate change and will inspire, inform, and engage the public about the urgency of the climate crisis.

El Camino: Stories of Migration by Nuevayorkinos

Nuevayorkinos, a multimedia and archival project shares an exhibition of photographs and stories of Caribbean and Latin American immigrants to New York City. Presented as part of LMCC's 2023 River To River Festival.

TUR by GANCHITECTURE + TENDER

TUR is a series of 444 towering fictional works of architecture, created over the past year using AI, and minted next week on the Ethereum blockchain. The artist known as Ganchitecture remains anonymous, but often attends their own openings unannounced. In their stead, Adam will represent the project on opening evening.

Bright Moments New York is a new semi-permanent gallery at 204 Front Street, open for exhibitions and community events from April through June, 2023. Debuting with Emily Edelman’s Agar on April 11, the space will become a vibrant hub for emerging art and exciting developments in the Web3 and generative art worlds.

Aurora By Ithaca Studio

Skate beneath the Northern Lights right here at the Seaport. Aurora, an overheard light installation designed by Ithaca Studio, brings the magic of the Northern Lights to the Ice Rink. More than 4,000 individually controlled overhead lights will emulate the star-lit sky so skaters can sail on ice beneath a close-to-lifelike Aurora Borealis.

NFTs NOW by Jamie George & Harris Lipton

Explore works from the coveted collection of Jamie George and Harris Lipton. For the first time, George and Lipton will show key works from their shared collection in a physical gallery. The exhibition marks a moment in time for NFTs and digital art collecting and points to an exciting future for the medium.

National Anthem by Luke Gilford

From Sea to Shining Sea by Tom Fruin

Light. Color. Architecture. Experience it all at the two newest installations on Pier 17, two colorful acrylic and steel houses by Brooklyn-based artist Tom Fruin. These houses are a part of the ICON series, a collection of public art works designed to make viewers reimagine the buildings and structures around them in a new way.

Lenticular Histories

Historic photographs. Current reflections. Past and present meet at the Seaport in the new immersive art installation of Lenticular Histories. The pieces were created by Rose DeSiano as part of Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's 21st annual River To River Festival, Downtown New York City’s leading free summer arts festival held June 18-29.

American Black Beauty Vol. 1
